Seasonal Position Summer 2025 – Bedford Central Library

The Bedford Public Library System is seeking a well-organized and detailed oriented person to perform clerical duties, a full range of automated circulation desk procedures, assisting patrons with materials selection, checking in and shelving materials, up to 20 hours per week at the Bedford Central Library. The position will work two weekdays and Saturday each week.  This is an exciting opportunity for high school and college students looking for a summer job.

The successful candidate will be comfortable with technology in general, able to learn new software, able to use Microsoft Office applications and basic office machines. The candidate should also be familiar with various digital devices and library-related apps, including but not limited to e-readers, iPads, and laptops. Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs, sit or stand for long periods of time, climb a step stool, and be able to bend and stoop. This seasonal position is Library Assistant I and starts at $14.61/hr. Additional benefits include the opportunity to participate in the Commonwealth of VA 457 deferred compensation plan.
