Bedford Public Library Policy
I. POLICY
The Bedford Public Library System supports a wide variety of information technology hardware and software and maintains local area and wide area networks.
II. APPLICABILITY
Information technology hardware, software, and networks in all library facilities are intended to serve the operational needs of the library system and the public it serves.
III. OBJECTIVE
To ensure that the library maintains, upgrades, updates and replaces its hardware, software and network components to ensure reliable and effective operation of its information technology systems.
IV. PROCEDURES
- BPLS will evaluate its information technology on a continual basis and will develop a five-year plan to address changing technology needs of the system.
- The library system will hire staff and enter into hardware, software and maintenance and service contracts as necessary.
- An Information Technology Replacement Fund will be established and developed to provide for upgrades, updates and replacement of hardware, software and network components.
