Join us on the 1st Saturday of every month at 11:00 AM (unless the library is closed) for a new program filled with fun stories, songs, crafts and more!  For children ages 0-5.  

Black History Heroes, Soldiers & Spies @ Bedford Central Library

Logo for Bright Star Touring Theatre.Come to the Bedford Central Library this afternoon as we welcome members of the Bright Star Touring Theatre as they perform their show – Heroes, Soldiers & Spies.  In this production audiences will have the opportunity to experience, celebrate and learn about some amazing people from throughout Black History.  They’ll take the audience westward to see the work of the Buffalo Soldiers and Col. Charles Young and join the Tuskegee Airmen as they take flight to help win a battle in World War II.  This play also highlights the work of spies such as Mary Elizabeth Bower who worked with the Union during the Civil War.  Please join us for this inspiring and interactive performance.

COMING SOON TO A LIBRARY NEAR YOU!
Join us at the Bedford Central library for a monthly Saturday afternoon screening of a movie for adults and teens.
This month we will be showing First Man starring Claire Foy, Ryan Gosling, Pablo Schreiber, Christopher Abbott, Kyle Chandler, and Jason Clarke. 

 First Man is the riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight.  A visceral and intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the film explores the triumphs and the cost, on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues and the nation itself; of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
Free movie snacks and drinks will be served.

The Friends of the Bedford Public Library present Freddy & Francine live in concert!
Freddy & Francine is an Americana-Soul duo comprised of Bianca Caruso & Lee Ferris. With voices reminiscent of Aretha Franklin & Van Morrison, their songs blend Soul, R&B, Folk, and Americana with a modern, yet timeless appeal to all ages.  Based in Los Angeles, Ferris and Caruso met in the 40th Anniversary of a musical production of HAiR in LA in 2007.  As individuals, Caruso developed a comedy television show with ABC and Ferris racked up 500 performances as Carl Perkins in the Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet. ​ Freddy & Francine have released 2 EPs & 3 full length records since 2008.  Their latest, “Gung Ho” was produced by renowned producer Todd Sickafoose (Ani DiFranco, Andrew Bird, Anais Mitchell) and featured members of Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, and Andrew Bird’s touring bands.

Books 4 Fun is a preschool program for ages 3-5. Your child will enjoy music, rhymes, stories, crafts, and opportunities to engage in creative play.

Digital Library Homework Help @ Moneta/SML Library

Students will practice how to find virtual information on the BPLS library website “Digital Library” for reports, research and projects. Come learn how to use free digital databases, take a tour of the library shelves, remote print to the library printers from personal devices, search the library catalog, place holds for books from other libraries, and learn hacks to find websites with reliable information.
An individual windows laptop will be provided for use during the program. Bring a valid email address, a BPLS library card and pin number. Feel free to bring an alternate device if you will primarily access the databases or library catalog with a tablet or smartphone rather than a windows laptop or computer. Call us at 540-425-7004 to reserve a space for this program. Limited to six participants ages 9+.
