Let’s Heat Up!: A STEAM Program at the Big Island Library

Our January thru April STEAM programs are inspired by the book Now and Ben, The Modern Inventions of Benjamin Franklin by Gene Barretta.
This month we will be performing different thermal conductivity experiments.
We’ll start each program with a game based on the timeline found in the book.
Registration required and space is limited, please call us at 540-425-7000 to sign up.  For Grades K-5.

Join us on the 2nd Thursday of the month for a fun hour of coloring, art and writing in Colorific For Kids at the
Big Island Library.
Each session will be different.  Come and be creative with your imagination!  Learn how to use coloring activities to calm your anxious mind.

Get Your Garden Buzzing
A presentation by
members of the Bedford Area
Master Gardener Association

  • Bee a Better Gardener – Learn what flowers you can plant in your garden to help feed and grow our pollinator population.
  • Bee a Good Garden Host – Create a bee bath using hypertufa to provide fresh water for the bees in your yard! 

Sign ups begin April 1st. 
Registration is limited; please contact the library at 540-425-7000 to sign up. 

Each participant will also go home with a packet of seeds to help get
their pollinator gardens started!
