Dinosaur Club @ Bedford Central Library

Come to the Bedford Central Library on 3rd* Wednesday of every month and learn about dinosaurs in detail from a dinosaur expert.
Each child will receive detailed species fact sheets at each meeting.
Registration is required and limited.  For ages 5 to 8.
*We will meet on the 2nd Wednesday in November because of Thanksgiving.

Pirate Day Extravaganza @ Bedford Central Library

Illustration of a pirate.Avast ye mateys!  We need all hands on deck at the Bedford Central Library today for our celebration of National Talk Like A Pirate Day!  We’ll have a pirate-themed story time, crafts, games, a pirate costume contest, and a Treasure Hunt!  For Pre-K to 4th Grade.

The Friends of the Bedford Public Library will hold their Fall Book Sale on the second floor of Bedford Central Library and in our Book Room. Please help support the Friends in this effort and take home some great reading material in the process. Most books range in price from $.25 to a few dollars. Bring a friend or neighbor and spend a few minutes or a few hours browsing through the large selection of books. Find some new reads for the whole family! The selections are tremendous – diverse, plentiful, and very, very affordable. Come early for the best selection!  Included in the selection are current fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, classics, cookbooks, children’s books, puzzles, DVD’s, romance novels, spiritual and religious titles, political commentary, self help, history, Videos, CD’s, large print books, biographies, coffee table titles, craft books, and so much more! Donations of books, DVD’s, CD’s, and puzzles in good, clean condition should be delayed until after our Fall Book Sale. After that date, you can bring in the books you’d like to donate to the loading dock of Bedford Central Library. All proceeds from this Book Sale benefit Bedford Central Library.

Cupcake Class @ Bedford Central Library

Today we will be welcoming special guest Caroline May, the head decorator at Kissed Cupcakes, who will be here to teach teens and tweens (ages 12+) how to make homemade buttercream frosting!  She will also demonstrate several decorating techniques using piping bags.  Following the lesson participants will have the opportunity to decorate their own cupcakes using the techniques they learned and compete in a mini “Cupcake Wars”.
The cupcakes will be judged by local food professionals and prizes will be awarded.  Registration is required; please call the youth services department at 540-586-8911 ext. 2107 to sign up!   

*This is the re-scheduled class from September 7th NOT a new class.
