Stop by the Moneta/SML Library during the month of April to see work by local photographer Tammy Key on display in the MOarts Gallery.
A native of Virginia and a Bedford County resident for about 25 years, Tammy has worked for the Bedford Public Library System in the past and you will still see her substituting at our various branches today.  She is a lifelong photography lover but has been actively pursuing this passion since 2013 when she attended her first Bedford Photo Club meeting.  She’s currently a member of the Bedford, Forest, and Smith Mountain Lake photo clubs and has competed in several local photography competitions.  Her exhibit will include landscapes, macro and close-up photographs from her trips to Maine, out West and here in Virginia focusing on the wonders of nature.

Glass Artist Linwood Hoffman
April 1st – April 30th

 An artist for years, Virginia native Linwood has experimented with drawing, painting, and pottery, and these experiences have influenced his glass creations.  He first witnessed glassblowing as a child while on a family trip to Jamestown and it was on that trip he pledged that one day he too would create with glass.  Linwood realized his dream in the winter of 2007 when he took a beginner’s glassblowing class in Staunton Virginia.  According to him, glass blowing is a rewarding, demanding, and at times dangerous artistic experience. He says, “Taking a semi-liquid with a temperature of 2100 degrees and literally blowing new life into what will become a solid vessel, adding one’s personality via color and design and sometimes literally through blood sweat and tears…” is the process.  And the reward is “…in the end a creation that is one of a kind.”
