October Exhibits at the Bedford Central Library

On the Mezzanine: Blue Ridge Photographic Arts Society Photo Exhibit
The Blue Ridge Photographic Arts Society in Lynchburg, Virginia was founded nearly 18 years ago by Lynchburg area photographers. The group began meeting shortly before the 9/11 disaster in New York City, and one of their first projects together was to visit Manhattan and record their impressions of the aftermath. They have held annual exhibits together and separately, and many of the original group members have become well-known in the area. The Blue Ridge Photographic Arts Society meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 at the Academy Center for the Arts in downtown Lynchburg.

This month’s featured cabinet exhibit: “Digging up the Bible.”
Gregory Hobson, a resident of Bedford, is sharing some of the artifacts that he excavated during his trips to Israel.  Included are the ancient coins featured above – some of which date back as early as 6 A.D.  Hobson is a former member of the Americal School of Oriental Research, The Egypt Exploration Society and The Archaeological Institute of America.  He holds a B.A. in Christianity and History, a M.A. in Religion, and a M.DIV in Biblical Studies and Languages.
