Book covers for 2018's Community Read selections: Murder On The Orient Express, The Boundless, Finding Mighty, and Trainbots.

The Bedford Public Library System invites you to participate in our 4th annual Community Read beginning March 1st and continuing throughout the month.   It’s full steam ahead with this year’s Community Read!
We’re having a train-themed extravaganza featuring Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.  There are also complementary books for youth: The Boundless by Kenneth Oppel for teens; Finding Mighty by Sheela Chari for kids; and Trainbots by Miranda Paul for young children.  Join us in reading these stories featuring trains and train travel.

Inspired by the books we’re reading, we’re exploring trains in multiple ways throughout the month of March.  We’ve planned programs for kids, families, and adults.

March 2nd: Read Across America Day at the Stewartsville Library featuring Trainbots.  We’ll read the book and do fun train-themed crafts.
March 10th:
Adults can Escape from the Orient Express at our Bedford Central Library’s Escape Room
March 23rd:
Children will solve puzzles based on Trainbots at an escape room just for them on at the Big Island Library’s monthly STEAM CLUB.
March 24th:
Adults can attend a presentation about the history of the railway in our region at the
Bedford Central Library.

We’ll also be screening the recent film version of Murder On The Orient Express…
Forest: Saturday, March 17th at 3:30 PM
Big Island: Tuesday, March 20th (Time TBD)
