In today’s world computers are a integral part of everyday life.  But for many of us these new technologies can be confusing and even a bit scary.  That’s OK – your library is here to help you with our series of Computer Skills 101 classes!  We’ll teach you everything from how to turn your computer on to how to set up an email to using social media like Facebook.

Space is limited in these programs – contact the branch to register.  Different classes are offered each month.  Here is a list of the upcoming classes being offered at each location…

Bedford Central Library (540-586-8911 ext. 1114) – Classes are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
March 19th: Internet Browsers – Learn about the different internet browsers that are available, how to configure your browser to help you work more efficiently, and beginner tips for navigating the internet.
April 16th: Email and Attachments – Learn how to attach files to an email and open attachments sent to you.

Forest Public Library (540-425-7002) – Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
March 21st: Smart Phone One on One – Sign up for a 15 minute one-on-one session to get help with your Smart Phone.  Android or iPhone.
April 18th: Internet Safety – Learn how to browse online safely to protect your computer from malicious programs and to protect yourself from identity theft.

Moneta/SML Library (540-425-7004) – Classes are held on the 1st and 2nd Thursday of every month from 1 to 2:30 PM.  
March 7th: Microsoft Word 101 – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more. This skill is a must have for many jobs these days – learn how it’s done!
March 14th: Pinterest – What is Pinterest?  How do I set up an account?  Learn how to pin things and how to set up a Pinterest board.  We’ll also look for fun summer ideas to pin.
April 4th: Digital Photos 101 – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
April 11th: Basic Photo Editing – In this class you will learn basic photo editing skills including…cropping, resizing, photo saturation, color to black and white and more.

The Big Island, Montvale, and Stewartsville locations also have computer skills tutoring available once a month – you choose the topic.
Big Island (540- 425-7000) – Tutoring available on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 4 to 7 PM.

Montvale (540-425-7006) – Tutoring available on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
Stewartsville (540-425-7008) – Tutoring available on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 5 to 6 PM.
