In today’s world computers are a integral part of everyday life.  But for many of us these new technologies can be confusing and even a bit scary.  That’s OK – your library is here to help you with our series of Computer Skills 101 classes!  We’ll teach you everything from how to turn your computer on to how to set up an email to using social media like Facebook.

Space is limited in these programs – contact the branch to register.  Different classes are offered each month.  Here is a list of the upcoming classes being offered at each location…

Bedford Central Library (540-586-8911 ext. 1114) – Classes are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
May 21st: Beginning Computing – Review the parts of a computer and learn the basics of how to use Windows 10.
June 18th: Surf Safely – We’ll go over how to set up a limited user account and how to tell if a website is safe.
July 16th: File Management – Learn how to find where things are saved on your computer and how to better organize your files.
August 20th: Digital Photos 101 – Get tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.

Forest Public Library (540-425-7002) – Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
May 16th: Pinterest 101 – Get Pinning with this beginners class.  What is Pinterest?  How do I set up an account?  Learn how to pin things and how to set up a Pinterest board. 
June 20th: Facebook 101 – Learn the basics of setting up a Facebook account, how to decide on privacy settings, uploading photos, and posting status updates. You must have an email address before class.
July 18th: Email & Attachments – Learn how to attach files to an email and open attachments sent to you.
August 15th: Smart Phone One on One – Sign up for a 15 minute session to go over basic smartphone questions.  All smartphone types.

Moneta/SML Library (540-425-7004) – Classes are held on the 1st and 2nd Thursday of every month from 1 to 2:30 PM.  

May 2nd: Microsoft Word 101 – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more. This skill is a must have for many jobs these days – learn how it’s done!
May 9th: Pinterest 101 – Get Pinning with this beginners class.  What is Pinterest?  How do I set up an account?  Learn how to pin things and how to set up a Pinterest board. 
June 13th: Digital Photos 101 – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
July 11th: Smart Phone Basics – In this class we will be answering some of the most commonly asked questions about Smartphones.
August 1st: iPad and Tablet Basics – Bring in your iPad or other tablet and start learning what it can do for you! We’ll go over common terms, how to connect to wi-fi, how to navigate on your device, and how to change settings. For the beginner.
August 8th: Basic Photo Editing – In this class you will learn basic photo editing skills including…cropping, resizing, photo saturation, color to black and white and more.

The Big Island, Montvale, and Stewartsville locations also have computer skills tutoring available once a month – you choose the topic.
