In today’s world computers are a integral part of everyday life.  But for many of us these new technologies can be confusing and even a bit scary.  That’s OK – your library is here to help you with our series of Computer Skills 101 classes!  We’ll teach you everything from how to turn your computer on to how to set up an email to using social media like Facebook.

Space is limited in these programs – contact the branch to register.  Different classes are offered each month.  Here is a list of the upcoming classes being offered at each location…

Bedford Central Library (540-586-8911 ext. 1114) – Classes are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
August 21st: Digital Photos – Get tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
September 18th:Introduction to Instagram – What is Instagram?  Learn how to download the app and set up your account.  Learn basic Instagram terminology and how to post to your account.
October 16th:Introduction to Snapchat – What is Snapchat?  Learn how to download the app, set up your account, and the basics of how to use it.
November 20th: Word 101 – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more.
December 18th: Excel 101 – Learn to use Microsoft Excel. This spreadsheet software is the go to for simple accounting, list making, charts and graphs, and so much more.

Forest Public Library (540-425-7002) – Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday* of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
September 20th: Excel For Beginners – Learn to use Microsoft Excel. This spreadsheet software is the go to for simple accounting, list making, charts and graphs, and so much more.
October 18th: Smartphone 1 on 1 – Sign up for a 15 minute session to go over basic smartphone questions.  All smartphone types.  
November 15th: Email and Attachments – Learn how to attach files to an email and open attachments sent to you. 
December 20th: Introduction to iPad – Did you just get a new iPad or have you had one for awhile and don’t really understand how to use it?  Then come learn the basics in this introductory tutorial class.

Thursday, September 6th: Introduction to Windows 10 – If you’ve got a brand new Windows 10 computer, or have upgraded a Windows 7 or 8 computer to 10, we’ll show you how to get started.
Thursday, September 13th: Intermediate Windows 10 – This class is intended for people with a working knowledge of Windows 10 who would like to learn more.
Thursday, October 4th: Where’s My Stuff?! – Learn how to find things you’ve saved to your computer or device.
Thursday, October 11th: Digital Photos 101 – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
Thursday, November 1st: Email and Attachments – Learn how to attach files to an email and open attachments sent to you.
Friday, November 9th: Digital Photos 101 – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
Thursday, December 6th: Smart Phone Basics – In this class we will be answering some of the most commonly asked questions about Smartphones.
Thursday, December 13th: Computer Clean Up and Back Up – Learn how to clean up your computer, prevent viruses and malware, defrag, and backup your files.
