In today’s world computers are a integral part of everyday life.  But for many of us these new technologies can be confusing and even a bit scary.  That’s OK – your library is here to help you with our series of Computer Skills 101 classes!  We’ll teach you everything from how to turn your computer on to how to set up an email to using social media like Facebook.

Space is limited in these programs – contact the branch to register.  Different classes are offered each month.  Here is a list of the upcoming classes being offered at each location…

Bedford Central Library (540-586-8911 ext. 1114) – Classes are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
May 15th: Introduction To Pinterest – Learn how to set up an account, how Pinterest works, and searching for Summer Fun pins!
June 19th: Email Basics – Learn about setting up an email, how to write and respond to an email, how to download and open attachments, how to attach documents to an email.
July 17th: IPads For Beginners – Learn the basics of how to operate an Apple IPad.
August 21st: Digital Photos – Get tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.

Forest Public Library (540-425-7002) – Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday* of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
May 17th: Meet The Mouse – Our most basic computer class for those who don’t know ANYTHING about them.  Starting with how to turn one on.
June 21st: Introduction to Twitter – What is Twitter?  Learn how to download the app, set up your account, and get your “tweeting” started.

July 19th: Introduction to Instagram – What is Instagram?  Learn how to download the app and set up your account.  Learn basic Instagram terminology and how to post to your account.
August 16th: Introduction to Snapchat – What is Snapchat?  Learn how to download the app, set up your account, and the basics of how to use it.

Moneta/SML Library (540-425-7004) – Classes are held on the 1st* and 2nd Thursday’s** of every month from 1 to 2:30 PM.
May 3rd: Digital Photos – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
May 10thComputer Clean Up and Backup – Learn how to clean up your computer, prevent viruses and malware, defrag, and backup your files.
June 14th: Facebook 101 – Learn the basics of setting up a Facebook account, how to decide on privacy settings, uploading photos, and posting status updates. You must have an email address before class.
July 13th**: Powerpoint 101 – Learn to use Microsoft PowerPoint. This slideshow software is the go to for creating presentations.
August 9th: Surf Safely on the Internet – We’ll go over how to set up a limited user account and how to tell if a website is safe.
* There will be no Computer Classes on the 1st Thursday of the Month from June-August 2018.
** The July Computer 101 Class will be held on Friday instead of Thursday.
