In today’s world computers are a integral part of everyday life.  But for many of us these new technologies can be confusing and even a bit scary.  That’s OK – your library is here to help you with our series of Computer Skills 101 classes!  We’ll teach you everything from how to turn your computer on to how to set up an email to using social media like Facebook.

Space is limited in these programs – contact the branch to register.  Different classes are offered each month.  Here is a list of the upcoming classes being offered at each location…

Bedford Central Library (540-586-8911 ext. 1114) – Classes are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
December 19th: Microsoft Word For Beginners – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more. This skill is a must have for many jobs these days – learn how it’s done!
Need help with a different topic – one-on-one tutoring is also available by appointment.

Forest Public Library (540-425-7002) – Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday* of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
December 21st: Microsoft Word For Beginners – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more. This skill is a must have for many jobs these days – learn how it’s done!
January 18th: Facebook 101 – Learn the basics of setting up a Facebook account, how to decide on privacy settings, uploading photos, and posting status updates.
February 15th: Pinterest For Beginners – Get started “pinning” in this intro to Pinterest class.

March 15th: Introduction To Windows 10 – Get started using Windows 10.
April 12th* (This month will be on the 2nd Thursday): Smart Phone 1 on 1:  Sign up for a 15 minute help session to get assistance with your smart phone.

December 14th: Digital Photos – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
January 4th: Intro to Windows 10 – Get started using Windows 10.

January 11th: Intermediate Windows 10 – Explore settings and files in more depth, manage multiple windows, learn about Windows Defender, and more! 
February 1st: Surf Safely on the Internet – We’ll go over how to set up a limited user account and how to tell if a website is safe.
February 8th: Where’s My Stuff!? – Learn how to find things you’ve saved to your computer or device.
March 1st: Internet and Computer Safety – Learn how to browse online safely to protect your computer from malicious programs and to protect yourself from identity theft.
March 8th: Email Attachments – Learn how to attach files to an email and open attachments sent to you.
April 5th: Instagram 101 – We’ll go over how to set up an account, how to download the app, terminology used, and how to get started.
April 12th: Word 101 – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word.
May 3rd: Digital Photos – Tips for organizing, backing up, and editing photos, including getting them from your phone or camera to your computer.
May 10thComputer Clean Up and Backup – Learn how to clean up your computer, prevent viruses and malware, defrag, and backup your files.
