In today’s world computers are a integral part of everyday life.  But for many of us these new technologies can be confusing and even a bit scary.  That’s OK – your library is here to help you with our series of Computer Skills 101 classes!  We’ll teach you everything from how to turn your computer on to how to set up an email to using social media like Facebook.

Space is limited in these programs – contact the branch to register.  Different classes are offered each month.  Here is a list of the upcoming classes being offered at each location…

Bedford Central Library (540-586-8911 ext. 1114) – Classes are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 to 4 PM.
October 17th: Facebook 101 – Learn the basics of setting up a Facebook account, how to decide on privacy settings, uploading photos, and posting status updates. You must have an email address before class.
November 21st: Introduction To Windows 10 – Get started using Windows 10.
December 19th: Microsoft Word For Beginners – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more. This skill is a must have for many jobs these days – learn how it’s done!

Forest Public Library (540-425-7002) – Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday* of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
September 28th*:
Excel 101 – Learn to use Microsoft Excel. This spreadsheet software is the go to for simple accounting, list making, charts and graphs, and so much more. This class is a beginner class that will introduce you to Excel, but you should be able to use the mouse.
October 19th: iPad For Beginners – Did you just get a new iPad or have you had one for awhile and don’t really understand how to use it?  Then come learn the basics in this introductory tutorial class.
November 16th: Email For Beginners – Get signed up for an email account, learn to check your email, clear your inbox, attach files to send them, organize emails you want to save, and more.
December 21st: Microsoft Word For Beginners – Learn the basics of Microsoft Word! Useful for making to-do lists, writing letters, creating a resume for job search, and more. This skill is a must have for many jobs these days – learn how it’s done!

November 9th: Internet and Computer Safety – Learn how to browse online safely to protect your computer from malicious programs and to protect yourself from identity theft.
*There will be no class on December 7th.
